The Mountain Leader Award Ireland qualifies individuals to lead groups safely through the mountains, hills, and moorlands of Ireland and the UK during summer conditions. Mountain Leader training focuses on non-technical terrain leadership and does not include rock climbing, rope work, or winter mountaineering skills. This advanced hillwalking qualification provides the highest level of summer mountain leadership training available.

Mountain Leader Assessment Requirements

- Observational experience: 6 days with qualified Mountain Leaders
- Wild camping: 2 nights minimum in mountain environments
- First aid qualification: 16+ hours certified course
